In an alternate Victorian-esque world, Matt is a crew member aboard a luxury airship. He’s lighter than air himself and very good at his job. He’s the first to spot a failing airship and rescue an old man muttering about strange flying creatures. During his voyage, Matt has to deal with Kate de Vries, the old man’s smart and opinionated granddaughter, an unfortunate run in with sky pirates and a crash landing on a mysterious island with even more mysterious creatures. It's a great adventure book with two amazing characters and a world of wild ideas and possibilities. Matt and Kate’s story continues in Skybreaker and Starclimber.




Chew On This

We’ve all eaten it. Some of us like it, some of us hate it and some of us can’t live without it. But how much do you really know about the fast food industry? Equal time is spent discussing the production and labor conditions of fast food, how chickens and cattle are processed and details about the increased dangers to humans working in slaughterhouse. Also discussed is the complex marketing involved, such as analyzing maps to put restaurants in the best places, to studying how children’s brains develop for advertising. The history of each fast food corporation is also mentioned. It is an interesting, fun, gross and scary read that's sure to leave an impression.
